I wrote previously about credit debt. It’s very likely that if you have credit, you currently owe something somewhere. But have you taken a look at your credit cards and asked yourself, “What is my credit card doing for me?” Of course you know you want the card with the lowest rate and you know you want to pay down your balance as quickly as comfortably possible. And you probably know about cards that offer frequent flyer miles or other various rewards. But do you know, some cards also give cash back?
Mr. Credit Card has a video cash back credit card tutorial on his website. The tutorial explains the four basic kinds of cash back credit cards and lists a few examples of each. The tutorial is a bit more like a Powerpoint presentation with a voice-over. He has a bit of an accent, but it isn’t difficult to understand.
Under the tutorial video Mr. Credit Card has listed a few credit cards he suggests. These cards seem like ones you either need a lot of money for, or you have to have credit with those companies on another card for a long time. I have the top card, but it took me a few years with a crappy regular Amex card to get it. If you have poor credit, I wouldn’t suggest making it worse by being declined by these cards, but if you have decent credit, give it a shot. Get some cash back for the things you buy.
