A friend of mine found a post on page rank and showed me. It looked extremely interesting, so I held on to it for a day or so. When I actually sat down to read it and play with it, the post was just funny.

Cash Quests has written a post (and put it up in its featured section) about a website called LivePR.Info. You can read the post for yourself, here. In this post the writer tells about the website and the cons of the tool. Not con as in negative, but con as in “illegal”. He tells you how to con Google for better page rank, or to sell off your quality page rank. He says twice in his post that he would never do it, but has no issues with telling you exactly what to do. But that’s not what this post is about.

A tool that tells you the page rank of each page on your site could be very helpful. Not for the reasons he spoke about, but for slightly more honest reasons. The actual reason people want page rank. If you have a website with a certain page that you’d like seen, it would be helpful to know its page rank. If you have a site with a lot of quality pages, it can be difficult to look up each one individually. Having them all listed there for you can help you to see how popular each page is and which ones need your attention.

However, the funny part about this, is that I went to LivePR.info and put in my website. My friend Anna who showed it to me did this as well. I even put in PJ Mommy for giggles. Strangely enough, every page on every website I put in came back with a PR of 10. That’s wonderful! We’re all going to be rich on the next update!

The truth of the matter is, no one but Google knows that Google is doing. You can’t predict page rank and, obviously, you can’t accurately display a current page rank. So why do it? I guess people will believe anything, so make a cool tool they’ll want and slap some ads all over the pages. Make sure to put in some Google Adsense so the page scrolls forever, too.
